This photo of Lino Brocka at a rally on March 28, 1985 in the Philippines was taken by Uncle Dado Saturay before he left for the Seattle. It is one of an amazing collection of photos documenting life in the National Democratic movement of the Philippines during the final years of the Marcos dictatorship. I’ve taken up the slow, grueling task of scanning and archiving every single slide after the box of around 500 slides was almost thrown away after the closing of the Filipino Workers Action Center in 2005.
I’ve also had the honor and pleasure of sorting through these photo slides by Uncle Dado. They are amazing. and beautiful. and inspiring. And I hope they can all be shared with the general public soon.
I also dig how Lino Brocka is always spotted side by side with the masses at rallies and marches.
